Abstract
The post-digital city is built upon mutual
ratings. The appearance and performance of the towers are determined by the
social credit system which also implies people’s socioeconomic status. Taking
inspiration from the current app software, the virtual world explores an
alternative way to evaluate the value of properties. The typology of the
buildings is determined by ratings, comments and landlords’ social credits. The
popularity of the properties is also influenced by the citizens. People are
allowed to promote it through gaining more ‘likes’ from others. The dynamic
cityscape will thus manifest the new culture of consumers. Project two
investigates into the reinterpretation of data in the realm. The virtual space
is constructed through pixelating and re-materialising intricate city scenes to
fabricate new spatial experience. Spatial resolution is influenced by the
public exposure, manifesting the pseudo modern lifestyle.
Point cloud datascape
The dystopian cityscape showcases how precarious the social credit system is. It challenges the way people’s social behaviour and interaction to build up reputation. The authenticity and originality become volatile, forming new and chaotic orders in society.
The spread of distrust
The porosity of the building elements are determined by the credits. The dissolution of the façade and structural scaffoldings indicates the social bankruptcy process accelerates. Tension, stress and depression are contagious, contaminating the neighborhoods.
Pseudo Gallery
The Virtual space is constructed through pixelating and re-materialising intricate drawings to fabricate new spatial experience within the gallery. The spatial resolution is influenced by the public exposure, manifesting the pseudo modern lifestyle.
